The LIWDG Web Development Discussion List

List Messages:

To post a message to the LIWDG list, send it to:

<liwdg@lists.liwdg.org>

Messages must be posted from an address that is subscribed to either the LIWDG list or the LIWDG Digest list. If you are new to our lists, please read the guidelines for acceptable posts. Further information is available on Reading Messages and on Posting Messages.

List Commands:

The LIWDG list can handle administrative requests automatically. Please do not send them to the list address! Instead, send your message to the correct command address:

To subscribe to the list, send a message to:

<liwdg-subscribe@lists.liwdg.org>

To remove your address from the list, send a message to:

<liwdg-unsubscribe@lists.liwdg.org>

Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list:

<liwdg-info@lists.liwdg.org>
<liwdg-faq@lists.liwdg.org>

You do not need to be a subscriber to request the Info or FAQ messages.

Similiar addresses exist for the digest list:

<liwdg-digest-subscribe@lists.liwdg.org>
<liwdg-digest-unsubscribe@lists.liwdg.org>

Command messages do not really need to be empty, but their content will be ignored. Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.

E-mail Address Changes

One of the common problems subscribers encounter is dealing with changes of address. Please do not send us requests to change your subscription address. You should unsubscribe the address you will no longer be using and subscribe your new address using the instructions above.

If you forgot to unsubscribe the old address and now find you no longer have the ability to send messages from that account, you have two choices:

  1. If the old address is set to forward received mail to your new address, you can still unsubscribe the old address by using a special format of the unsubscribe command address. for example, if the address you want to unsubscribe is "yername@thathost.com", just add a hyphen and that address after the command word -- but use an '=' instead of '@' in the address:
    <liwdg-unsubscribe-yername=thathost.com@lists.liwdg.org>

    The List manager will send a confirmation message to that address which will forward it to your new address. When you receive it, simply reply to it to confirm and complete the unsubscribe request. If you were subscribed to the digest list, use:
    <liwdg-digest-unsubscribe-yername=thathost.com@lists.liwdg.org>

  2. If the old address is not forwarding messages to your new address, then, essentially, it is someone
